Q: What is the HA instructional program? 

A: Curricular Strands - Our instructional program consists of 4 Curricular Strands and a research-based, practice proven delivery system. Our program is anchored in Christian faith, aligned with California academic standards, grounded in Black Studies, focused on industry and “powered” by The *Pedagogy of Confidence™. Our Scholars are immersed in foundational thinking skills, through an engaging, rigorous and culturally sustaining delivery system. This approach supports every child in the mastery of academic content, as they develop the intellectual character necessary to read, write, and think critically about the world.

A: Implementation Strategy - We use a multi-age classroom approach. We will implement a phased transition, gradually implementing multi-age classrooms, starting with our youngest learners. This will allow us to refine our practices and demonstrate the benefits of the multi-age model.

Q: What is the Pedagogy of Confidence™

A:  The Pedagogy of Confidence© is the fearless expectation and support for all children to achieve at high intellectual levels through 7 High Operational Practices designed to prepare students to self-direct and self-actualize.

Q: What role does the Pedagogy of Confidence™ play at HA? 

A: Our instructional program is “powered” by the Pedagogy of Confidence©, which means that instruction is delivered through the generative and culturally sustaining strategies and practices that support the 7 High Operational Practices of the Pedagogy of Confidence©.

Q: What is the HA Core Curriculum? 

A: Ours is aninnovative approach to teaching and learning. We use a research-based, Science of Reading-aligned program for foundational literacy; a holistic, culture-centered system designed to intensify and accelerate students’ critical literacy skills; and the custom-designed standards-aligned conceptual units in Curiosity & Ingenuity Laboratory to integrate each of our Curricular Strands. The HA Curriculum & Pedagogy Council iscomposed of national experts and scholars, each specializing in one of our Curricular Strands. Our program is designed to invite students into the world of scholarship through the strategies, practices, and dispositions associated with the 7 High Operational of the Pedagogy of Confidence™.

Q: What activities and programs will be offered beyond the traditional program?  

A: We are excited to offer robust opportunities to extend student thinking and engagement inside and outside of our core curriculum through: Art, Music, Physical Education, Theater & Performing Arts, Competitive Sports (upper grades), and a variety of clubs and affinity groups (upper grades). 

HOPE Academy is grounded in a multi-age approach that honors the developmental range and potential of every early learner. Alongside strong foundations in reading and mathematics, our curriculum engages scholars at their individual pace across five integrated strands: Christian Education & Faith Development, Oracy & Literacy, Numeracy & STEAM, Black Studies & Identity Development, and Industry & Entrepreneurship.

Scholars set daily learning goals and engage in California standards-aligned, conceptually connected units of study that promote depth, coherence, and meaning-making across disciplines. Instruction is powered by The Pedagogy of Confidence©, a research-informed framework that positions every child as capable of high intellectual performance and provides the structures, supports, and experiences necessary for them to realize it.

Q: What are the hours for HA BC/AC? 

A: Before Care begins at 7:00am and ends at 8:30am;  After Care begins at 3:00pm and ends at 6:00pm

Q: What does the HA BC/AC Program consist of? 

A: The BC/AC program includes a variety of activities including: Music, Creative, Visual &  Performing Arts, Academic Enrichment, free play, prayer, mindfulness, rest, and nutrition.

Q: How much does HA BC/AC Program cost? 

A: The cost for HA BC/AC is $300/month (waived for members of Center of Hope LA).

Q: What is the cost of a HOPE ACADEMY education? 

A: Our tuition is intentionally positioned in the mid-range for private schools in our area, providing families with excellent value and a high-quality education. Tuition includes a world class educational experience, extracurricular activities, and prioritized access (at an additional cost) to our Before and After-school Care Program. The financial commitment also includes an annual Registration and Student Programs fee and a Materials fee.
